Summer Transfer Window 2014

Its that type of year again! I'd like to have this all in one topic for rumours and stuff.
So far, it looks like we have lost Garay, Markovic, and Oblak for around 50 million total. It looks like we've also been close to losing Enzo, Rodrigo, Andre Gomes and Gaitan. I dont think Enzo will leave because that would mean splashing cash for a 28 year old player. Not saying that doesnt happen but i think people see him leaving because they think he is younger than he really is. Considering who we've sold, i think we can hold on to everyone else. Also Fuens Mori was loaned out today.
So far we have brought in guys like loris benito, luiz felipe, djavan, pawel dawidowicz and talisca. I along with others believe the signing of luiz felipe and talisca were unnecessary as they are a right back and attacking midfielder respectively and we have joao cancelo and Bernardo Silva ready to come in and play in the first team. I hope Silvio will be staying long term as his play and versitily was vital for us this past year. As of right now we have a huge squad but we may get some more surprise sells and once JJ gets an idea where some players are, we will get lots of loans.
I think that Duricic will stay. I think JJ really wants to give him and a chance and ive always been a fan of him because he is a natural 10 and he is never put in that position. I hope that he will get that chance.
This is my lineup and back ups as of now:
Artur(Lopes)
Maxi(Felipe)- Luisao(jardel)-Lisandro(Vitoria)-Benito(Silvio)
Fejsa(Almeida)
Salvio(Pizzi)-Enzo(Gomes)-Gaitan(Sulejmani)
Rodrigo(Cardozo)-Lima(Oliveira)

It seems we are seriously looking around at keepers, very curious to see who we pick up. Belec is the most recently name.

In terms of Oblak, the media is painting a very negative picture of him not playing by the rules. Read something that the club will go after the player to cover the buyout clause or some type of fine for him not showing up for pre-season. Wasn't there some stupid stories last year before the season started where he tried to break his contract.

Also looking forward at seeing some of these guys from the b-team and the ones coming back from loan getting a good run in the upcoming games.

Yeah very disappointing behaviour from Oblak. As Ed pointed out, he did the same last summer when he went awol for a few days in an attempt to end his contract with the club. It seems he thinks he's too big for his boots, and for our club....but he actually has the club to thank for everything, he was a total unknown before Benfica bought him. Karma for him now would be to go to Atletico and not adequately replace Courtois there (very possible as the Belgian is arguably the best keeper in the world at the moment).

Anyway we need a new keeper, as even Artur might move on this summer. The keeper I would like to get is Sergio Romero. Although those penalty saves last night (and the number of clean sheets he has kept at the WC) likely increased his value and interest from other clubs too. Hopefully SLB's huge Argentinian connection could convince him to come to the Luz. Or alternatively sign Eduardo, who is the best Portuguese keeper in my opinion, and very dependable.

Agree with Stay_Toasty, lots and lots of signings of largely unknown players, and some of them seem unnecessary given the young Portuguese talent we have in the B team and on the fringes of the A team. This Benito, I've checked up on, and seen that he's already 22 without a single cap for Switzerland yet. With all due respect, Switzerland is not exactly overloaded with talent, how good is he really, if he still hasn't been capped by Switzerland? We shall find out soon. Apparently this Victor Andrade is very highly rated though, some sources even calling him "the new Neymar", so he could be an exciting signing and the replacement for Rodrigo in our attack.

I also want to see Djuricic given a proper chance this season, he was over-shadowed by Markovic last season, but now with his compatriot gone, he should get the chance to shine as a number 10 or even wide on the left. Lastly hopefully Enzo stays with us, he was one of the best players on the pitch last night. Top class player!

It looks like Lisandro Lopez is being loaned out to Granada which i dont get. Apparently he was very solid last season for Getafe and thats the one place we lost a big starter without a clear replacement. Very confusing but they must think Jardel can play every day. From last seasons performances, i dont think Vitoria is good enough to start every week but i do think he could be on the bench. I heard we were to sign Vitor Andrade then i saw that he was going to Germany yesterday, but it looks like it was just visiting and now hes back in Lisbon. Im interested to see where he plays as he is kind of a Markovic type.

Yea I don't understand why we loaned Lopez when we lost are starting CB. Throw in us shipping Silvio back to A.Madrid, refusing to pay his transfer amount after he showed up for training with us a few days back.

I think the Bebe rumors are interesting, not sure if we really need him given the depth we have in the winger department but it all depends on price.

Yeah it seems like Victor Andrade is more of a replacement for Markovic, while Derley is more of an out and out striker, so presumably a replacement for Rodrigo. I also had a look at some highlights of Anderson Talisca and he looks good, a free-kick specialist with an eye for the spectacular.

We're really investing in Brasileiro youth this summer, hopefully this new generation of younger Brasileiro players are more talented than those slightly older players on display at this Mundial.

We currently have almost 40 players registered on the squad with all the loanees back too, so expect plenty of movement of players, sold and loaned out over the next couple of weeks...

Yes, I see Andrade as a Markovic type who plays right behind the striker but i bet JJ will force him outside like Duricic and Markovic. As far as Derley, how does he play? He looks like a big strong guy so i feel that means hes more of a replacement of Cardozo as a more out-and-out striker.

Our squad has ballooned to 38 players, bit it always does before campaigns get under way.

I am not a big Sergio Romero fan, and by all accounts he was Argentinas weakest link except for the manager.
I would also liek to point out that Oblak was not unknown. Very much like Matic, he was highly rated across Europe. Big name clubs have always kept tabs on him, but that's no excuse for his attitude.

Once the World Cup is done, I expect plenty of moves to occur.
Our Squad:

Posted Transfers (Official);

On a side note, will The Count Luis Suarez become the latest Messi victim.
List of Strikers/Forwards Messi has gone through;
- Sanchez
- Villa
- Ibra
- Henry (not fair since he was done)
- Eto'o

I was wondering if Neymar would have been next, based on last campaigns play, but it seems as if Suarez will play the foil.

Im afraid of us overpaying for a goalkeeper based on their performances in the world cup. Many of these goalkeepers are solid but a guy like Fraser Forster is a good pick. And Eduardo is too old. I want new blood. Someone we can have between the sticks for years and can be that rock for us.

I really hate hearing the rumors of Oblak being a total ass. If he got his way and forced that transfer, then I wish him nothing but failure. I can deal with making quality players and them leaving respectfully.

@Stay Toasty: I don't think Eduardo is too old, he's 32, which is not too old for a keeper, he's got another 3 good seasons left, at least. And if fact we could do with his experience considering all the new and young players joining this summer. And you say you want a young player who will "stay for years"...that simply will not happen at SLB mate! The reality is, no young player who joins SLB and does well, will stay for more than 2 seasons. Most stay for only one, in fact. The only exception to this rule has been Gaitan.

It's a situation I'm really sick and tired of in truth, there is never any continuity or stability that lasts at our club. We are simply a revolving door of talented players, who come in from relative obscurity, for a season or two and then get sold on for profit. Luckily we've had a coach, JJ, who has been able to get the best out the players he "has left" every summer and the host of new ones who join every summer. We have to hope for more of the same over the next few years, because LFV will continue to sell all the key players ever summer!

Im not saying he has to retire here, but is Eduardo that big of an upgrade over Artur? If we buy a goalkeeper, we might as well buy someone who is better than Artur or someone that we know that can grow into a world class keeper. I've always been a fan of Artur, but with Oblak last year, I definitely saw the upside to having an elite keeper.

Eduardo is already in Dinamo Zagreb. His season with Braga wasn't good anyway, so for me he'd be a bad choice.
