Fernandez will probably only see spot duty and get some cleanup minutes at the start here. Seems to be a good players just by judging him form you tube clips.

Jose Luis Fernandez Set For Benfica Move
Racing Club starlet Jose Luis Fernandez will this week finalise a move to Portuguese champions Benfica, with the Argentine club set to receive around €1.5 million for the transfer.

Ole reports that left winger Fernandez, 23, landed in Portugal on December 28 to undergo a medical, and assuming there are no complications will be presented as a Benfica player shortly after. The youngster will then return to Argentina to see out the rest of the holiday period with his family, before presenting himself for training in his new club in the first week of January.

Fernandez will become the sixth Argentine to ply his trade in Benfica. Compatriots Pablo Aimar, Nicolas Gaitan, Javier Saviola, Franco Jara and Eduardo Salvio all play in the club, while Angel di Maria starred for the Aguias before being sold to Real Madrid in 2010.

It maybe too soon but we have a couple of League cup matches with weaker teams where he may get a shot at seeing some action. To be honest I like Nico and how well he is coming along, so unless Fernandez blows us out of the water, I’m happy with Nico continuing his development.

Fernandez Signs on Dotted Line for Benfica
Eagles make first acquisition of winter transfer window
Jose Luis Fernandez was this morning officially presented as Benfica’s first winter transfer reinforcement. The 23-year old winger has signed a four and a half year contract.

Fernandez’s first words about making the switch from Argentine club Racing Avellaneda to Lisbon concerned the magnitude of the Portuguese club.

“It’s a very big club, the biggest in Portugal and one of the biggest in Europe. My aim is to settle into the squad quickly, which has received me very well, so that I am ready to be used when called upon by the coach. I think with so many South Americans in the team my adaptation will be easy. I’ve come to be a champion and I hope I can help the team achieve this. I want to stay here a long time and win lots of championships.”

Fernandez refused to compare himself to former Benfica favourite Angel Di Maria, another left-sided winger, who was sold in the summer to Real Madrid. “I don’t want comparisons. He has his style of playing and I have mine. I only want to do my job, because that was what I was bought for.”

Exactly, Fernandez may even take the number 8 shirt when Salvio goes back to Atlético, which is probable.

Judging by this vid he kind of reminds of Ramires. Both have similar height, speed, and track back to win the ball when needed. I really want to see him play :D

Jesus probably thinks he is not ready. Not always an easy adaptation coming from South American football. Do you think he might be named in the game against Portimonense next weekend?
