Lisbon side secure U21 Slovanian goalkeeper
According to Slovenian club Olimpija Ljubljana, Benfica have successfully acquired 17-year-old goalkeeper Jan Oblak.

The young netminder will most likely be seen as a prospect for the club's future and not as a replacement for Quim, who is expected to leave Benfica this summer.

The news was announced on the Slovenian outfit's website and no other details were provided in terms of cost or duration of the contract.

Hope this kid can become a top future Goalkeeper for us :benficascarf

Gave him the link to our site, and he said thanks - has to be useful, the kid surely can't speak Portuguese yet but his English may be good enough!

I just had a nice little chat with this guy on facebook lol...Real nice guy...He says he trains hard every single day to become the starting goalkeeper one day...Also he said something that we might all enjoy, "Benfica is the biggest club in Europe." I agree Jan :sim :ok

He is highly rated by all accounts and could be knocking on the door of the starting 11 a lot sooner than we may think.
Very young still but a great prospect.
Attitude is spot on.

His been loaned to Beira-Mar...I really can't see him getting much playing time over their new signing, Rui Rego though...Anyways best of luck Oblak!

Good move for him and maybe he will be able to push more for playing time than if he stayed at Benfica...One for the future for us and he will be back
